First Windows Phone 8 smartphone officially unveiled at IFA 2012 by Samsung
Windows Phone 8 is here. Samsung has unveiled the worlds’ first Windows Phone 8 device, at the IFA 2012 on Wednesday.
Dubbed as Samsung ATIV S, the smartphone will run on the latest OS from Microsoft. Unveiled at a “Samsung Unpacked” event at the IFA, with the Ativ S, Samsung appears to be embracing Windows 8 as a part of its mobile strategy.
Designed for ‘Work and Entertainment’, the Ativ S has a 4.8- inch HD Super AMOLED display made from Corning Gorilla Glass 2 for extra protection. The device packs a 1.5 GHz dual-core Qualcomm processor with 1 GB of RAM. As for Camera, there’s a 8 MP camera at the back with a 1.9 MP snapper at the front. The Windows Phone 8-based Samsung ATIV S will come in 16 or 32GB model. The smartphone will house a larger 2300 mAH battery which is expected to provide rather impressive backup to the phone. It also provides Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 3 and NFC as connectivity options which are assisted with GPS and Glonass.

Samsung Ativ S looks a capable device to usher in the Windows Phone 8 OS, and it will be interesting to see what Nokia (exclusive Microsoft partner) brings to the table.
Looks like Samsung is now aiming for acquiring Windows Phone market after successfully capturing the Android arena.
Pricing and availability of Ativ S is yet to be confirmed, but smartphone is expected to hit the stores immediately after Microsoft officially releases the Windows Phone 8 OS.
